Potash mining uses either traditional shaft mining or solution mining techniques to find and use underground potash deposits from evaporated sea beds.  Traditional shaft mining uses a vertical shaft to drill down to the potash deposit. Solution mining pumps solution into the potash deposits and brings the dissolved potash back to the surface for recovery.

Operational conditions can be challenging at each state with changing ore composition, particle sizes, solid concentrations, temperatures and chemical compositions.
